General Task 1: The Great Cactus Cookout

Members of any guild may participate!

IMPORTANT NOTE Stats have returned in the general tasks. You do NOT, I repeat NOT need have any stat values to complete the tasks. They're included only as guidelines. For example, when it says "an Agility stat of 2 is needed to place traps safely," that doesn't mean a very slow character can't try to place traps, just that they wouldn't be safe; they'd risk setting them off, and they should try to take precautions or find some way to compensate. Thanks.

Luke
Well now, let's get down ta business, shall we? I've got a plan for the perfect way to celebrate  us bein' here in Geoda at long last, an' that's a good ol' fashioned barbecue. Can't think of a better place for it, really: out under the stars, the clear desert air ... uh, bit too dry, but that's all right. Most importantly, we've got a great host ta help us out.

Sherman
Right you are! Ain't nobody loves a cookout like me. Y'all feel free to use the kitchen in the Cacturne, and anything I got in the cellar. Should have all your necessities on-hand, and some fancier stuff from the city, though that might be a tad scarce. But if I'm out of somethin' local, like Spelon or Petaya, you can just walk off into the scrub and pick some. Easy as pie!

Luke
Most importantly, we'll need those of ya who can to pitch in an' help cook. Sherman's been kind enough to whip up a menu for us, but if ya got an idea for a dish, I'm sure everyone would love ta try it! if you're no good at cooking, ya can still help out. We'll need to gather enough cups and plates and such for everyone, an' of course we'll need t' clean up after ourselves. An' even if you're too busy with other guild work, well ... ya can still invite some of the locals to come join us! They're puttin' us up, so it's only right that we share the fun. It'll be a great chance to make new friends an' get to know the place.

Party's on for tomorrow night, just around sundown. Hope ta see ya there!

Luke asks for help preparing a barbecue in celebration of arriving in Geoda. Everyone can pitch in to help! Pokemon with cooking skills can help prepare items on the menu, or try out their own recipes. Others can help serve food or clean up. And anyone can help by inviting a local or other traveler to join the guilds at the party.

Rewards

Helping out with the barbecue will award:

-Recruitment Slip-

A form that authorizes a guild team to recruit a new member. Any pokemon considered to be "stage 1" or below may be recruited. Includes paperwork to be filled out by the new member, and an application to receive an additional template item voucher.

General Task 2: Prickly Patrol

Members of any guild may participate!

Chelle
I don’t wish to detract from the dinner plans, but there remains the matter of those ruffians that Sherman chased off. She insists that they are no real threat. But Solstice suggested, and I agree, that we cannot risk them interrupting our expedition, or causing trouble for our hosts. It behooves us to take steps to prevent that from happening.

To that end, we will be organizing a watch of our campsite and the surrounding area, both day and night. Teams will patrol the populated area of the Cactus Fields around the Thirsty Cacturne and the major paths through the area, keeping an eye out for any suspicious activity. Note that this is a cross-guild initiative, and representatives from each guild will be helping to coordinate our efforts.
Should you encounter any outlaws, you should try to capture them, or at least drive them off. It would be wise, however, to alert other patrols before you engage. Remember that we wish to protect our camp and the homes of our hosts, so do try to avoid causing collateral damage.

There will be a small cash compensation for anyone who participates in the patrol. And rest assured that patrols will be working in shifts to help stave off exhaustion, and to give everyone a chance to attend tomorrow's party. Now, please, stand by for more specific briefing from other guild representatives.

Chelle asks for volunteers to serve as a campsite watch, patrolling the area around the Thirsty Cacturne to keep a lookout for those Ruffians. Other guild leaders have specific jobs, which you can do in addition to or alternative to patrolling. Also note that ANY GUILD may help with these specific jobs.

Flint
Hey there, everyone. Chelle asked me to lend a hand dealing with those outlaws, and I’ve got an idea. Patrols are great, but they can’t be everywhere at once, and these outlaws know the back trails through the Cactus Fields better than we do. What we need are some static defenses to level the playing field - traps. I’m looking for mechanically-inclined members from any guild to help build and plant them.

Now, I have a plan for one kind of trap, using some local materials. We take a  small, hollowed-out cactus and pack it with Spelon berry powder. Then we'll attach one of these detonators I've made, and rig it to a trip wire. That should stop anyone in their tracks without causing lasting damage. But any kind of trap you all can devise, we can use. Well, as long as they’re nonlethal.
You should plant the traps on less-traveled trails, or at strategic spots in the brush where the outlaws might try to sneak through. Just be sure to record the location of each trap and how to disarm it. We don’t want to leave the locals any unwelcome surprises.

You can help Flint by gathering materials and building traps, or by planting them in the Cactus Fields. An Intelligence stat of 4 or higher will help if you wish to make a superior trap design. An Agility stat of 3 or higher is needed to set traps safely - slower Pokemon might put themselves in danger!

Robin
Hello, hello. I’d like to have a word with those of you who feel more suited to a … supportive role, say. I have a plan for how to employ your skills to the fullest.

Chelle’s idea for a watch is wise, but it has its risks. Patrolling can stress even the most hardened Pokemon; knowing an enemy is lurking in the shadows is stressful, after all, and that stress increases the chances of accidents and injuries. To prevent that, I’d like for some of you to remain in camp and tend to our allies when they return from patrol. Bring them refreshments, perform first aid - you could even provide some light entertainment, if you wish. Anything that would help keep our allies in fine mental and physical shape.
Oh, and keep an eye out for any suspicious Pokemon in camp. Our foes are outlaws, after all, and natives of the area besides. It's quite possible that some of them will be skilled in disguise or infiltration, and it won't do for them to sneak past our sentries undetected. So remain wary. I trust that if you encounter any ruffians, you'll know how to deal with them, hmm, discreetly?

You can help Robin by staying in camp and tending to other Pokemon who are patrolling, and by keeping an eye out for any ruffians trying to sneak in. A Charisma stat of 4 or higher will make you more effective at helping your allies relax, while an Intelligence stat of 3 or higher will make you more likely to notice any intruders. Successfully noticing and stopping an intruder will earn a Merit.

Cassidy
Tch. Hope you don't think I'm havin' you stand guard, 'cause I got different plans. I'm from Geoda, an' I know a thing or two about outlaws, and patrollin' around here near camp ain't gonna do jack squat to deal with em'. Like Sherman said, they'll prob'ly just sit tight wherever they got their hideout, and come out after we're gone. Might go after the Cacturne then, or jump us on the road. Naw, if we mean to deal with these varmints, we gotta go on the offensive.

Any of y’all who are good in a fight can come with me, an’ we’ll scout out the back forty of the Cactus Fields ‘till we find where that bunch are hidin’. I got a hunch they're holed up near one of them buttes down in the far southeast corner of the Fields, maybe in a cave. Once we find ‘em, it's simple: we flush ‘em out and take ‘em down! Y'all can handle the brawlin', and don't worry about watchin' your backs - Marcus, Banzai, an’ me’ll climb up one of the cactuses and give y’all some fire support, heh.

Oh, right, I guess try not to kill ‘em, so Kain can come pick ‘em up. And, uh ... this ain't strictly on the books, so don't tell Luke or Vinnie, got it? Now C’mon! This is gonna be fun!

You can help Cassidy by scouting the Cactus Fields and fighting ruffians when you find them ... and by keeping his task secret from Luke and Gavina. A Strength stat of 3 or higher will let you fight on par with the ruffians - otherwise you might need to use trickery. A Charisma stat of 5 will let you talk them out of their hiding place without revealing your intentions. If Luke or Gavina find out what you're up to, however, you'll all receive a Strike

Strike Bonus

-Requires at least 1 Strike-

Reuben
Hmm, you there. I’d say dutifully trudging around in the brush searching for brigands doesn’t suit you, correct? I have a cleaner, more elegant job for you. That tent over there -  the violet one - and those wagons of goods belong to me. Ensure that they are kept safe, and I will match whatever that Reuniclus is paying you. Ample compensation if your leaders give you a hard time, wouldn’t you say? I thought as much.

Merit Bonus

-Requires at least 1 Merit and fewer than 4 Strikes-

Aisha
Oh, hey! hey. Can I have a word with you? Err, somewhere quiet?

… Alright. I asked around, and your leader said you were dependable, so I think I can trust you with this job. Do you know the pokemon Sigilyph? If you’re out on patrol during the night shift, I want you to keep an eye out for that Pokemon. If you see one sort of ... hovering, and they don’t respond to you at all … well, you can try to run them off, or otherwise just keep tabs on them until they go away. Just whatever you do, don’t chase them outside of the Cactus Fields. And definitely don’t try to capture them! Just trust me on that, o-okay?

I’ll try to pay you back for this somehow, I promise!

Rewards

Successful completion of any or all parts of this task will award 3 Star Coins and one of the following:

-Volbeam-
An unusual device, made from a chargestone and a piece of Bug type crystal attached to a handle. Pulling the cord will fire off a bright flare that can be seen for miles around. It must recharge after being used, however. Allows the use of Signal Beam once (1x) per event.

-Spelon Bombs-
Three leftover Spelon Bombs.  They consist of incredibly spicy Spelon berry powder stuffed into a small ground cactus, and rigged with special detonator designed by Flint. Can be thrown as a grenade or rigged to a tripline. The spicy powder will knock out almost any pokemon without fail. 3x USE only - Flint's not sharing his detonator design!

-Needleduster-
A version of the kunckledusters popular throughout Geoda. Made from from a hunk of cactus and a strap, it's simple to make and simple to use. Allows the use of Needle Arm.

Successful completion of the Strike Bonus will award: 3 Star Coins

Successful completion of the Merit Bonus will award:
-Petroglyph Shard-
A tiny petroglyph, similar to those marked on rock faces all throughout Geoda. It resembles an arch. The Nomads seem to have a lot of these on-hand.

When I get around to writing this for my new team, I have to ask if we can get the rewards from the Strike and Merit tasks still? I'm aware the other rewards are void, I'm not to sure about the merit and strike bonus though
